Tagged: categories; posts; post date
We are looking to add a page to our basic Genesis framework that displays a mashup of All of our Posts form All of Our Categories such as:
Would you recommend developing this as a custom template?
I recognize this is not efficient, however, will worry about efficiencies (next page, etc) in second round of edits. Nor am I worried about order, reverse chronological for post, alphabetical for Categories if feasible.
Thanks in advance!
Had to do this the other day, so I saved my code for you:
Thanks Lauren for the suggestion, it generally mimicked what I started working on yesterday; although not so eloquently. KUDOS! One area that has had me stumped, and hopefully you may have an idea or two is adding the post date. Seems easy enough right?
i.e Post Title written by Author on Date
The trouble is that my date is being displayed as the last revision of the post and not the original post date.
I added the following code (one of several versions) -
foreach ( $myposts as $post ) : setup_postdata( $post ); echo '<li><a>ID) . '">' . get_the_title($post->ID) ; echo '</a> written by ' ; the_author_posts_link(); echo ' on '; the_time ('F j, Y'); echo '</li>'; endforeach;
Sample Post With an Ordered List written by Author 2 on June 14, 2014
Try passing in the post to
get_the_time( $d, $post );.
Thanks again - would you believe I had tried `get_the_time('F j, Y', $post );' a few times. I must need a vacation, and just realized I failed to include a basic echo. Been shaking my head at myself from the moment I read your "parsing".
Thanks again for all your help.
Good to see you making progress! Glad what I had was helpful to modifying your own code. 🙂
I'm importing the categories fine, but my text box has disappeared and the text appears over the background image, making it illegible. How would I get myself out of this?
Got some fantastic help from Lauren. Check the comments on her site for the solution.
