Hi, I would like to find out if there is any CSS for visual editor. The colour of the wordings in my visual editor is white which fall against a white background. Thus I could not read anything despite the content is still there. I want to change it back to black colour. Plus all my toggle buttons are missing. Is there a way to retrieve my toggle buttons by changing CSS? Can anybody help me with this issue? Thanks in advance.
December 19, 2012 at 7:15 am #6138SKMemberHi, I am experiencing some problem with my visual editor for creating posts/pages. I used "inspect element" on my visual editor to experiment how it works and accidentally press something in one of those buttons that appear on the bottom of my screen. Now I can't see the wordings of the content in there although the content is still there. Somehow, the words are highlighted in white colour on a white background. My HTML editor is working alright, can see all the words. Also some of my toggle buttons are missing from the visual editor. What could have happen to my visual editor? Can it be rectified and restored to its original form? Pls advise. Thanks.
December 21, 2012 at 7:28 am #6627SusanModeratorAfter our discussion in your other thread, I did some research. It appears to be a WP issue (and not a StudioPress issue):
What version of WP are you running?
http://wordpress.org/support/topic/troubleshooting-wordpress-35-master-list
I've seen a number of issues raised at wordpress.org based on a number of past versions of WP, including the most recent one:
flushing any caching plugins you might be running, as well as server and/or browser caches.
deactivating all plugins (yes, all) to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s). If you can't get into your admin dashboard, try resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin (read http://bit.ly/UhpkLl if you need help). Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems. Also remember to deactivate any plugins in the mu-plugins folder. The easiest way is to rename that folder tomu-plugins-old
(readhttp://bit.ly/WMrMM5 for more information on mu-plugins)
switching to the Twenty Eleven theme to rule out any theme-specific problems. If you can't log in to change themes, you can remove the theme folders via FTP so the only one istwentyeleven
. That will force your site to use it.
manually upgrading. When all else fails, download a fresh copy of the latest.zip file of 3.5 (top right on this page) to your computer, and use that to copy up. You may need to delete the wp-admin and wp-includes folders on your server. Read the Manual Update directions first: http://bit.ly/RbU5qGDecember 21, 2012 at 7:54 am #6632SKMemberHi, Susan. Thanks for your detailed explanation. I'll try to work around this issue with the help of your information. I'll let you know the outcome. Btw, I am using wordpress version 3.4.2. Many thanks 🙂
December 21, 2012 at 2:53 pm #6739SusanModeratorYou're welcome, and as I said, it's not a Studiopress specific issue, so you could do a little hunting around on wordpress.org for some other suggestions.

If you are experiencing problems with menus and widgets and the editor and similar not working, and you have ever used BulletProof Security, even if you're not using it anymore, then look for an .htaccess file in the /wp-admin directory, and delete it if it is there.
This has been a gotcha for several people who could no longer edit posts.
December 24, 2012 at 9:23 pm #7351SKMemberHi, Susan and Jen. I have managed to solve the issue now. Now I can see everything in my visual editor after I applied what Susan had taught. It works like magic! Thanks a millions for your advice! Here wishing you both a Merry X'mas and a prosperous New Year! Cheers!
