I have created a custom post type for this, called mempbers, using the Custom Post Type UI plugin. I have also used the Advanced Custom Fields plugin to add things like department, etc

I am now looking to make a custom page template to bring this all together in a grid layout where each member post displays a featured image followed by position, department, organisation (hyperlink for this one).

The below tutorial looks fantastic and also uses the Advanced Custom Fields plugin, however I would need to adapt it for genesis and am not sure how to go about this.

Would it be easier to adapt this tutorial for Genesis and ditch the custom fields in favour of custom taxonomies, as suggested.

If anyone has any input on this, I'd be very grateful

    Here's one option http://wpsites.net/web-design/team-members-staff-authors-or-user-profile-page-template-for-genesis/

    Or something like this http://wpsites.net/web-design/author-contributors-page-template/

Another option is to keep your CPT and filter the post class to display each post in columns

    Thanks Brad,

I did find your widget tutorial shortly after I posted this but I was having trouble because I needed the widgets to display my custom post type, a featured image and also my custom fields plus I wanted the page to display four columns of widgets.

I got part of the way there by using the Genesis Sandbox Featured Content Widgets instead of user profile but it had more options than I really needed, I couldn't get it to display my custom fields and it would only display 2 widgets for some reason

I haven't coded one using custom fields because there's already the native user fields which can be filtered which i covered in another post.

Perhaps the code from these plugins may help:
