    I would like to increase the width of the right column to 240 px and decrease the width of the main content accordingly. I have played around with the css but can't get this done. Any help will be much appreciated.

    Your sidebar width is currently 280px, so making it 240 would decrease it. You ad is 300 x 250, so I would recommend making it even larger. These are the selectors you'd need to edit:

    .content-sidebar #content, .sidebar-content #content {
         width: 630px;
    }
    .sidebar {
         display: inline;
         float: right;
         font-size: 14px;
         padding: 10px 0 0;
         width: 240px;
    }

    Best,
    Lauren
