    Hi there,

I'm currently building a child theme for genesis as a learning exercise, and by default the genesis admin-menu shows up (with a link to the customizer, seo settings etc) in the dashboard.

I checked out the base code of genesis, but the string "Genesis" and the "logo" seem to be hardcoded in the base code. Is it possible to overwrite these menu entries, or should I go ahead and build a new menu the same way they do?

Genesis is the parent to the child theme. The settings in there are for the framework and not the child theme. Are you trying to add your child theme settings to the Genesis menu?

I'm going to offer some additional theme configuration for (yes) my child theme, and I'd like it to be one place. that way I'll be able to use the Genesis Admin Box and Page object, which should in turn let me skip most of the boilerplate when it comes to sanitazion and menu building (otherwise I feel I would be replicating their menu which seems to be a waste of the great genesis base).

This may help you - https://studiopress.github.io/genesis/changelog/. Most theme developers will add their child theme settings either as a standalone tab for the child theme or nest their menu inside the Genesis Theme Settings.
