I have never found an answer to this although I think a basic question? I'm using the Page > Template > Blog with Essence Pro (useful to change Hero Image for each category) displaying the chosen category using custom field query_args . This works fine. However on a Post detail page the link for that category takes the user to the default category page. How can this link be changed to go to the new Category Page. Grateful for any help with this.

WordPress generates the category link. Genesis has nothing to do with this except to call the WordPress get_the_category_list function. This function eventually calls the WordPress get_term_link function.

get_term_link applies a 'term_link' filter in its return statement. This means you may be able to intercept the link and change it to your liking. This requires a lot of work to code and debug the requisite PHP. It would make for an interesting tutorial though. If I have time over the next few days, I may tackle it.

At this point, it would be easier to setup 301 redirects for the category links than to delve deeply into code to figure out the filter.

Thanks for this info. Interesting obviously why I could never find a tutorial. 301 for now till you work it out 🙂 Thanks again
