MemberHello. How can I change the latest/featured post on the Eleven40 homepage to an excerpt instead of the full post text? I want visitors to click-through to the post page instead of read it fully on the homepage.

MemberGo to your Genesis settings and look for, Content Archives- You should see a few options like Display post content or Excerpts.

MemberThanks - tried that but no change (and cleared cache). Right now it's at Display Post Excerpts.

MemberAny other thoughts? I don't know how to do this in the CSS, but it appears that's where the change needs to be made. There's no Featured area in this theme, so I can't do it in the widgets. I still want the latest post being featured front and center, but just as a smaller excerpt than the main article.
Thanks in advance.

MemberSince you're using the grid loop on the homepage, there's not a great way to truncate the one feature post. However, you could try doing it manually within the post by using the More tag in your post editor:

MemberYour WordPress editor has two options to add the more tag, Visual and Text editor have you try them?

Member@nutsandbolts - what would my other option be from the grid loop? I don't want to have to make that adjustment every time I upload a new post. I'm just using it now 'out of the box'.
@RobG - Thanks that works, but I'd rather just have it happen automatically upon each new post. Unfortunately in this theme, there's no widget section to put a Featured Posts widget into.December 1, 2013 at 4:56 pm #76500nutsandbolts
MemberYou could disable home.php by renaming it to something like home-old.php, which would remove the grid entirely and allow you to use excerpts or full content according to your Genesis theme settings. In other words, your posts would display normally like any other blog.
