    Once I activate the html5 structure for my theme, my widgets get a structure that has <section> as one of the core parent elements.
    I have seen tutorials on how to change an h4 in a widget to an h3, but never something for the actual structure elements that make up the widget itself:

    <section id="text-7" class="widget widget_text">
    	<div class="widget-wrap">
    		<h4 class="widget-title widgettitle">Test title</h4>
    		<div class="textwidget">test text</div>
    	</div>
    </section>

    I have found the source to pretty much all the markup in any genesis-made page except for this widget bit.
    Any help or pointers in the right direction would be much appreciated. I simply want to change 'section' for 'div'.

    Regards

    Assuming you want to switch <section> for <div> in the whole sidebar, something like this should work:

    if ( function_exists('register_sidebar') ) {
      register_sidebar( array(
        'before_widget' => '<div class="widget widget_text">',
        'after_widget' => '</div>',
      ) );
    }

    If you do this it will not output your widget ID: id="text-7".
