Change post background color

Does anyone know how to change the background color of your blog posts without also changing the color of every other page's content? I cannot figure this out-- do I need to somehow add a unique class to just the blog post area?

I want the content on every other page to have a transparent background, but the post section needs to have a color behind it to be readable-- any help would be much appreciated, thanks!

I edited the typo before, but it still is not changing the post background, also tried adding important but nothing :/

article.post{
background-color: #F5F5F5 !important;
}
