Center Eleven40 logo BUT keeping menu on ITS right side

Hi there,
I have found tutorials on how to use the 'header' to put a logo in the center with the menu underneath it.
But I want to have the logo in the center and keep the menu on its right side, next to the logo, not below it.
Or ideally even split it between left and right.

Using firebug I noticed that if instead of left, I type: right, the logo goes on the right. But if I type: center, or centre, it doesn't go in the center. How do you do that?

Yes, it is:

There is no such thing as float:center. The way the header is set up in your theme is float right for the menu and float left for the logo. You would need to calculate the space from the edge of the outer .wrap or whatever the parent of both the nav and the logo and the space taken up by the right navigation and then center the logo in the space available. You can do this with jQuery and CSS. With CSS alone, you can probably fudge it with different media query breakpoints and make the logo position:relative and adjust the left position. You can also make your own header and remove the default one. In any case, whatever way that it is accomplished it takes some decent chops. It will also not look very good. You should take a screen shot and move it around in photoshop to see what I mean. A logo in the center of the viewport or the center of the leftover space, both are not balanced looking.
