I'd like to add one more field of data to my Subscribe box.

It would be optional rather than compulsory. Look and feel would be identical to the original.

I can find examples where the colours have been changed but none where an additional text box has been added.

Can it be done? Or would it mess things up?

Note that the extra data would need to be stored in my Mail Chimp list along with the regular name and email data.

    Thanks!
    Nick

You would need to create that field in MailChimp first then apply it to the eNews widget.

    Hi Anita

    Thanks

The additional Mailchimp field is straightforward.

I was wanting to establish how easy/difficult it would be to add an extra field to eNews...

    Regards

You can use a subclass to override your plugins parent class.

    Or

Rewrite your own version of the plugin.

Ginger has a post on adding new merge fields here. Maybe this is what you are looking for.
