I am trying to register a new widget to appear on my blog feed. I don't want it to appear anywhere else on my site.
     I have registered a blog-widget.
I have created a template, called it 'blog' and selected it for my Blog page. I have put a hook in it for blog-widget.
     None of this is working.
     Any suggestions?

You could use the Genesis Simple Sidebars plugin - http://www.studiopress.com/plugins/simple-sidebars. Create a new sidebar and just place it on the Blog page. It works great.

    I have the same issue.

    - I have installed Genesis Simple Sidebars

    - created a new sidebar widget

    - went to Widgets, add Categories, saved

    - created page /blog, applied Blog template, chosen Primary sidebar with new sidebar widget

But /blog is still showing default sidebar. Did I do anything wrong?

    Thanks.

@colourmind you didn't need to create a new blog template, the themes come with a default Blog template.

Create a new page, call it "Blog" - scroll over to the right, select the Blog template, scroll down and select the new sidebar you cared created and SAVE IT. That's all you need to do. Then view the Blog page and you should see what you want.

Hi, this doesn't seem to work for me. I'm using Apparition which doesn't have any sidebars as standard, maybe that's why?

    Many thanks in advance
