    Hello-

The site I am working on is ChrisMiller1031.com/wordpress. After uploading the Genesis and Hello! Pro child theme, I activated both. However when I go in to try to edit and customize the child theme, I get a blank white screen. When I click on customize and get the white screen, this is what my URL is...

    http://chrismiller1031.com/wordpress/wp-admin/customize.php?url=http%3A%2F%2Fchrismiller1031.com%2Fwordpress%2F

And if I click the "back" button, I can get back into the dashboard. I had a similar issue last night when trying to upload some of the plugins. Sometimes they would load, sometimes it would spin I would get an internal error warning...but refreshing allowed them to be saved and activated. But after loading a few, it seems the site would "crash" and I would get a white screen again.

So is there an issue with the Genesis or Hello! Pro child theme? Reason I'm asking is because if I try to "customize" one of the original themes that come default with WordPress, I'm able to. It's only dealing with the Genesis and child themes. Any help would be appreciated as I've dumped WordPress and reloaded it a few times on my server, and the same thing keeps happening. Thanks!

The issue is probably neither Genesis or the Child theme. The customize URL doesn't appear correct to me. This is what I get when I load the customize screen for one of my clent sites running Hello Pro: https://jamestchambers.com/wp-admin/customize.php?return=%2Fwp-admin%2F

You should turn on WordPress debug to see if you can pinpoint errors in PHP. It could be a plugin conflict as well.

Thanks Victor. I'm not quite sure how to debug PHP errors as that's a bit over my head. And I would be really surprised if it was a plugin conflict as I have not downloaded or activated any new plugins, only the one or two that traditionally come with wordpress by default.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but if it's a PHP issue, wouldn't I be running into the same issue with the default themes that come with WordPress? It's just frustrating because I have never had this issue before and have no idea how to resolve it. And I know if I go to my hosting company with the issue, they are going to say it's a wordpress problem...

One thing I did notice was on the bottom of my themes page was this regarding stylesheets. It says....

    Broken Themes

The following themes are installed but incomplete.

    Name Description
    classic Stylesheet is missing. Delete
    default Stylesheet is missing. Delete

Would that be the issue? Is that a Genesis and Child issue?

There's nothing called classic stylesheet in Genesis. The child theme's stylesheet is in the child theme directory. It is called style.css.

You can always re-upload Genesis and the child theme through FTP just in case you have an incomplete install of either one.

Ya, that's what I thought was odd. There is no themes named that, and yet it shows at those missing a stylesheet. Very odd. I guess I can look at the FTP or other options as a way to get it uploaded. Frustrating...thanks for the feedback. We'll see what I can resolve.

Found the resolution. Hosting company was using 5.2 PHP, and I needed 5.6 because the 5.2 didn't have enough memory allotted for the site. Glad I checked with them too. Thanks for your time!
