Hello Studio Press Team!
It's been a while since I have been on here, but the feedback has been helpful the 2-3x I asked a question and thought of this forum when I encountered my current challenge 🙂
Quick Background; We are building a website that promotes bowling alleys in rural communities (personal project with my cousin that is into...bowling!).
Are there recommendations for plugins (or a service) that can verify if a person is truly affiliated with that bowling alley they list on our website?
(hope this makes sense)
Thank you!
LisaDecember 20, 2018 at 6:32 am #225158Victor FontModeratorLet me understand this. A user signs up on your website and says they are affiliated with a certain bowling alley and you want an automated way to verify that they are telling the truth.
There isn't any way to verify this unless there's a master database of bowling alleys someplace that lists every name of every person affiliated with them that allows you access to their API. Even if there were such a thing, it would require advanced custom programming to access.
What exactly are you trying to accomplish? What is the goal?

Have you requested your free website audit yet?December 20, 2018 at 8:13 am #225162LisaHMemberHello Victor,
We just need to ensure the person submitting the bowling alley is actually affiliated with the bowling alley. Our goal is to prevent a patron (or competitor) from listing incorrect information about the bowling alley, potentially hurting its brand (intentionally or not).
Thought I would ask for my cousin in case there is "verification" plugin of some sort that handles situations like this. Interesting how there isn't one out there, at least not through our research.
Perhaps we are making it more complicated than we thought. Any suggestions on how to handle something like this...if possible...would be appreciated 🙂
Thank you for responding!

Then, using a form tool like Formidable Pro with the registration add-on, you create your own registration form. The form can send an email to a responsible party at the bowling alley for a confirmation. Once the responsible party responds to the email, the admin can approve the registration and notify the registrant. I don't know of any other workflow to do this that can be automated to a great degree.

I really appreciate you taking the time to help suggest this alternative. We were considering something similar using Gravity Forms, although your idea takes it a step further.
We may try that approach 🙂
Thank you for your guidance, and I hope you have a wonderful Holiday Season!
