On this page http://my.studiopress.com/themes/genesis/ what exactly am I seeing? Is this also a theme? Is it a child theme? The reason I'm asking is that I like what I see and we could use this and modify it for our purposes.... maybe.. But I'm unclear as to whether what I'm seeing is a child theme or just the framework..

    Can someone explain?

We need to redesign our site

    Thanks

You are seeing the Genesis Framework. The core. It is not a childtheme.

You could create a childtheme that also retain the "look" of the core framework. But you should not customize the Framework.

Some basic childthemes for Genesis Framework (that "look" like the core)

Or Purchase a ChildTheme from StudioPress or other theme shops.

Thanks Kellylise. I understand why I would need a child theme. It's all the shopping around for the best child and then toilet training it!! hahah.. Isn't parenting fun? I just have trouble distinguishing what I want right now. Thanks muchly for getting back to me.
