Im trying to update the author page URL
http://www.url.com/author/username to be
http://www.url.com/author/nickname or http://www.url.com/author/displayname
for a couple reasons
1 - security (i don't think it's a good idea users know my username
2 - my username is not close to my actual name; therefore has very little utility.Im curious how I can change the code to reflect this change or plugins to install.
Thanks,

April 20, 2014 at 8:15 pm #101568SusanModeratorSorry - I couldn't tell from your original question that you had tried that particular thread. 🙂
I'll see if I can get someone else to weigh in...
April 20, 2014 at 8:17 pm #101569divotagencyMemberThanks. To help clarify - I am not trying to change the url of the of the author on post pages. I am trying to change the url of the author archives page i.e. zacharypalmer.net/author/divotagency --> zacharypalmer.net/author/zachary-palmer
April 21, 2014 at 1:38 am #101594CalliaWebMemberTake a look at this PST by WPBeginner http://www.wpbeginner.com/plugins/how-to-change-author-url-slug-and-base-in-wordpress/ in which they suggest the Edit Author Slug plugin
I've not used it myself though.

April 21, 2014 at 7:45 am #101634divotagencyMemberUnfortunately that plugin does not work in my case. It would be an easy fix to add a new user - Unfortunately, I want to change the author url from using the username and use the display name First/Last. Adding a new user wouldn;t fix that issue.
April 21, 2014 at 7:59 am #101638divotagencyMemberThe author edit changes the author slug... However, I wanted to avoid the need of using a plugin to make this change. The whole point of using Genesis was to avoid the need of dozens of Plugins....
AmI still going to end up using dozens of plugins - even with Genesis Framework?
April 21, 2014 at 8:10 am #101641divotagencyMemberALSO - this method doesn't pass Google Rich Snippet testing tool for rel=author. Maybe I am doing something wrong? Like I said - I've never had this issue using wordpress - just Genesis.
April 21, 2014 at 8:51 am #101648Davinder Singh KainthMemberFew ways you can try:
1. Use plugin - http://wordpress.org/plugins/edit-author-slug/
2. Create new user and assign all posts to it.
3. Remove hyperlink from author name - http://www.basicwp.com/edit-author-url-genesis-post-info/
