What is the forum users experience and opinion of the automatic updates.

I have been receiving notifications today of automatic updates for WP 3.8.1

I had an early site set on 3.7 which received the automatic updates. When the 3.8.1 update came on several weeks ago, I began receiving 4-6 email notifications every day telling me that it had updated to 3.8.1. It was as if the thing was stuck.

I installed a plugin for no auto updates and no email. I have a system for checking and prefer not to be reminded.

Today, the 3.8.1 updates just ran right over that plugin, so it would appear.

I've never had a Genesis update run automatically.

    Thank you in advance.

I never, ever want my software to automatically update without my consent. You never know when a new update will introduce a bug or incompatibility. It's best to wait and let other brave strangers discover the bugs before you update. The results could be inconvenience or being put out of service.

I'm OK with notifications. I'm OK with downloads that happen automatically. I just never want the software to update until I press a button to provide my consent that I'm prepared.
