Can anybody advise me how to change the background on the front-page-1 to a slideshow?

I have seen the reference to https://sridharkatakam.com/replace-home-section-1s-background-image-backstretch-slideshow-parallax-pro/ but $47 is a lot of money for me to have to pay for just one snippet of code that may or may not work on Altitude.

    Really hoping somebody can help!

    Thanks

What kind of a slideshow ? Will you be using a plugin like soliloquy or a script like backstretch ?

Just a standard slideshow whereby I select a few images to include, as a background and stretched exactly the same as the static image. If there is a plugin, then yes I can use that. I have used Cyclone Slider before, I tried Soliloquy but didn't like it (can't remember why now!)

I want to keep it as a background though, as I will have text to put in the widget area.

Just a heads up on this for anybody else who wants to do the same.

After days of wasting time trying to do it and contacting several Genesis developers who were either too busy, not interested or simply too expensive, I found Brad Dalton's solution. It works a treat! http://wpsites.net/web-design/altitude-pro-image-slideshow-behind-widget-area/
