Adding caption to Featured Image on landing page

I have the Magazine Pro theme and need to have captions under the Featured image on the landing page.

I've noticed that others in this Forum have wanted this as well but haven't found answers.

I also tried the Featured Image Caption plugin but that didn't work.

The reason this is so important is that I need attribution if I'm to use Creative Commons images (especially if the featured image is only used on the landing page and not in the post itself). I don't want to use images without giving due credit.

I would appreciate any help ...

I assume you mean the front page of your site? Or do you mean when using the featured posts widget?

The solution for adding captions to featured images in a archive page loop as opposed to adding captions to featured images output using the Genesis featured posts widget would be different.

Also note, the reason it may not have been answered previously is because the solution may take some time to work out.

That's right – by landing page, I meant front page, which uses the featured posts widget.
