This is my second time posting this question, so my apologies if this is redundant. I don't see this answer on the general discussion forum, although I have not used the forum for a very long time, so may have not post this properly

My client wants her free offer content visible to search engines, but she does not want her free offer content accessible without first requiring prospects to join her list.

My first thought was to add her content to a hidden page on her website. This means she would have (1) a hidden page containing all the content within her free report plus (2) another hidden page with a downloadable link to her PDF: the hidden page with the downloadable PDF would be linked to her 3rd party autoresponder.

On second thought, once indexed by the Google, etc., it seems the link to the hidden page would be accessible to anyone. Thus visitors could access her free offer content without providing their email address and name in exchange for the free content.

Aside from adding a meta tag description of her free offer content, is there a way to do both as described above, and still require prospects to opt-in to her email list?

The easiest thing to do would be to create a landing page for opt-in. The landing page will be visible to search engines. The free content (or information on how to access the free content) can be distributed via autoresponder through the mailing list. If the content is hosted on the site it can remain hidden from search engines as the landing page is indexed.
