On this site, I have a unique secondary banner just below the navigation on every page (example http://www2.denisemazzola.com ). For the blog area, I want to use a repeating (non-unique) banner on the single posts (example http://www2.denisemazzola.com/first-blog-post/ ) and on the archives page. I managed to put the banner on the single post using the style sheet (as a backgound, no repeat top), but am not having any luck figuring out how to place the banner at the top of the archives page. I tried placing it using the style sheet as a background for archive-page, just like I did single post, but it's not showing up. See here - http://www2.denisemazzola.com/category/blog/

I've also thought about using the blog template but can't figure out how to style it with css either. How to hook into it?

if you wanted to hook it, you can use conditionals like is_single() or is_archive() and use the 'genesis_after_header', 'genesis_before_content' or 'genesis_before_content_sidebar_wrap' hooks in your functions.php file and then style it in your style.css

Hi Ozzy, That sounds like a good idea. Unfortunately, I don't know php. I can make very simple changes to it, but wouldn't know where to begin making a more structured statement. I was hoping there would be a way I could just use css, or maybe a template. 🙁

Question, could I use a blog page template with a custom post class or body class and style that to have the banner? I think I'll try.

This didn't work either. It seems like this should be really simple to do with CSS, I just can't find the right place to put the background pic. Can anyone help?
