404 page in child theme – edits are not showing at frontend

    Hi, I am using the Mai Law Theme. I copied the genesis 404 template and added to the child theme. I am trying to change the text and the changes are not working. I have done this same thing for other sites using genesis/child themes and have had no issues. Does anyone know why these edits to 404 in child don't work? thanks!

    edit: all themes are up to date, site was redesigned using genesis/child theme just a few months back.
